Have you ever seen the obituary of Jesus in the newspaper? He died many many years ago. In all of your reading have you ever heard the phrase “the late Jesus”? The heathens have not even uttered these words.

No, you have not and will not see his obituary because He is still alive and dwells among us!!

I Corinthians 15:20-22 “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.  For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.  For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” We, too, even though we physically die can be alive in Christ.

Upon our physical death, our obituary will be published in the local newspaper. There will be displays of sorrow and grief from our family and friends because they will miss us. But we have the assurance that one day we will be in His presence if we have been born again to new life in Him. “For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection.” Romans 6:5Romans 6:5
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

5 For if we have become united with [him] in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of his resurrection;

Easter Every Day

Do you know what Easter is all about? Do you realize what Jesus did for you? Pointed yet thought provoking questions. “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25John 11:25
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, though he die, yet shall he live;

As you begin to realize that on Easter (the resurrection of Jesus Christ) we celebrate the world’s most important miracle and glorious event in history, our hearts should be overwhelmed with gratitude and praise. Thus, we should celebrate Easter three hundred and sixty five days a year not just on its special designated day in our church.

What does His resurrection mean to you today? As the old song goes because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone because I know who holds the future. And life is worth the living just because He lives. John 14:19John 14:19
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

19 Yet a little while, and the world beholdeth me no more; but ye behold me: because I live, ye shall live also.

b NAS states, “Because I live, you shall live also.”  Wow! Have you considered all that Christ did on your behalf?

Those “spiritual goose bumps” should be rejuvenating every part of you at this point. Christ gave us a victory that we did not earn or deserve, yet, it is ours to have. Let us rejoice and be glad in Him!

A thought to ponder: How can I make Easter more real and meaningful not only on Easter Sunday but every day of the year?

Enjoy the music by the Bill Gaither Vocal Band as they sing, “Because He Lives”.
