Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. This day is usually associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball gamesfamily reunions, and so forth. Independence Day is the national day of the United States.

The symbol of our worldly freedom is the red, white and blue. My heart swells with pride and my eyes often fills with tears as the flag passes by. As most Americans, I am so grateful for the freedoms I have because I live in the United States. We should all count it a privilege and should not take our freedom for granted.

Did you know we are also free in Christ? “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.Galatians 5:1Galatians 5:1
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

5 1 For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage.

The blood of Jesus Christ is the symbol of our spiritual freedom.  By His death and resurrection, we are no longer a slave to sin if we have taken the important step in admitting we are a sinner, believing that Jesus died for our sins and confessing that He is our Lord and Savior.

Are you free in Christ?
