Taking our own picture (selfie) and posting it on Facebook has quite the intrigue in today’s electronic world. Wikipedia™ gives this definition . “A selfie is a self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a hand-held digital camera or camera phone. Selfies are often shared on social networking services.”

Some people enjoy posting selfies although it is not a favorite thing of mine to do.

selfieOn our selfie everyone can see what we look like on the outside, but how many people really take the time to discover the true beauty that lies within us? This is not always evident when our picture is viewed.

How does God look at our selfie? I Samuel 16:7 states, “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” God can see those hidden things – inner thoughts and desires that no one else has an idea about. He can see deep within our heart. “As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.” (Proverbs 27:19Proverbs 27:19
English: American Standard Version (1901) - ASV

19 As in water face answereth to face, So the heart of man to man.

As the Lord examines our hearts today, will He be pleased with what He sees? Will He see a faith in Him and a desire to do His will? God knows us better than we know ourselves.  Yet He loves us even though we do not have a perfect “selfie”!

I think I will take a look at my “spiritual selfie” today and see if I have a pure heart and motives.
